Property Taxes and School Funding Stability

What I Believe

Property taxes keep rising largely because school funding relies too heavily on local levies. Families face unpredictable bills, and districts are forced into constant election cycles instead of long-term planning.

What I Will Propose and Do

I will introduce the STABLE Homes Act

(School Tax Alignment & Burden Limitation)

This proposal would:

  • Cap annual property tax increases tied to valuation growth at a reasonable percentage
    per year
  • Create a state matching program for new operating levies, so local dollars go further
  • Reduce levy size while keeping school funding whole
  • Protect voter-approved levies from being eroded by inflation and reassessments

Homeowners get predictability. Schools get stability.
